TRAVEL

I have been fortunate to visit many states and countries throughout my life. At each destination I encounter, I am able to learn something new about their culture and history.

New York City

My family and I traveled to New York City and had the opportunity to play basketball at the famous Rucker Park, a court where some of the best players in NBA history, such as Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, have set foot upon. It was a a surreal experience.

Spain

In the summer of 2018, I was able to travel across the world to Girona, Spain with my high school team to attend a two week long basketball camp. In Girona, we got to practice with and play against several semi-professional women's teams from Spain as well as learn from many great coaches and mentors from other countries. It was such and amazing opportunity to meet these athletes, experience their culture, and get the opportunity to improve our basketball skills.

Our team also got to tour Barcelona, Spain and visit museums, try the Spanish cuisine, walk through Cathedrals, and learn about the country's history while we were there.

Cuba

I visited Varadero, Cuba in 2017. The country had been closed off to foreign visitors for many years and the entire city of Varadero seemed to be stuck in the 1950's with its atmosphere and the local's way of life. It was a great experience to meet the local people of Cuba, see how they live, and experience the culture there. My family and I brought clothes along with us to provide for the families there. A majority of whom were poor, many of them lived in shacks and traveled by horse.
